Woot.com is a online retailer who is the antithesis of Amazon. They feature just one single product every day on their homepage at a remarkable price. Today they have a 42 inch LCD for $799. Woot! does marketing remarkably well because they frame their product to be exciting. There is a great new deal every day that expires at midnight (US Central Time) and there is a limited supply. This strategy gives customers a reason to check back with them frequently and creates a sense of urgency to act before the deal runs out. By focusing on a single item they differentiated themselves from most e-retailers who take the Long Tail approach and offer an overwhelming array of choices.
